THE CRUX OF IT: Keeping you distracted, prevents you from growing.
Why was it necessary to editorialize or correct our First Lady Michelle Obama in any way with regards to her statement that every day she wakes up in a house that was built by slaves?
Alpha-Schill O’Reilly felt the distinct need to “edify” viewers that those referenced slaves were in fact fed well and housed “fairly” and that other demographics of people also took place in the construction of the building. NONE of those others were lawfully captive and subject to mortal punishment of course. He failed to include that in the “edification” – I wonder if it was a simple mistake…
So, let me get this straight – if his daughter were to be raped, then the point of focus should be that she was taken to a nice restaurant by someone generous before or afterward? Or would the most pertinent point possibly be that the crime took place in an up-scale hotel that was more luxurious than her normal home?
What if his son was found in an ornately gilded church, with the word of his God in his hands- but with his pants down because he’d been abused by his spiritual leader…Would the splendor of the building or Bible passages be the primary or most relevant aspect- or would the horrific offense be the most relevant?
The answers are ASTOUNDINGLY obvious- to anyone without something to gain from being condescendingly contrary.
By stressing the false fact that slaves were fed well or housed well is to focus on the fine dining before the rape or the splendid edifice of a church before the molestation.
NO ONE would EVER focus on the gratuitous details in the examination of a horrific crime.

By claiming to clarify facts and history, he intends to (not so subtly) put certain targeted people IN THEIR PLACE – and also on their heels.
Why is it necessary to say anything more than “Human beings were kept as slaves and horribly mistreated and it was wrong” ?
