Deities and Doubt

THE CRUX OF IT: Working the balance point.

The concept of Atheism works based on the same mechanism as the scientific principal, that being; the absence of evidence allows for the definitive assertion that a thing is false / non-existent.

I don’t fully agree.

There are countless things that exist right now (without getting into the philosophy of whether anything actually exists) that we have no proof of or evidence for at the moment. Yet, they are out there just the same (undiscovered species, dark matter, etc.).

Atheists don’t have any more proof than theists – they don’t KNOW anything more than anyone else. But – they do have deductive probability.

That has meaning and weight.

The logic and reasoning of Atheists stems from a different place than in other (theist) brains. That place is not fear based. That place’s dispassionate logic is comforting.

Explore that place here:

The intellect that is intertwined with Atheism can be much more desirable than the suspension of critical thinking that is blind faith.

Then, there is the mindset of sincere doubt without egocentric rigidity.

There is the Agnostic.

Agnosticism doesn’t have to be seen as lacking conviction; it should be seen as the natural balance point between two polar opposites that, in fact, allows for discovery and revelation.
