Here is an unfortunate fact; People of African Descent cannot afford to give cops the benefit of doubt.
Don’t be simplistic and say, “Well, it doesn’t have to be that way!”
It is necessary to view the occupying overseers as a potential life threatening criminal; very similarly to their view of people of color. I would never tell a child that cops are there to protect and that they are our friends.
History teaches a different lesson.
That is not self-defeating cynicism or hatred. What it is, in fact, is a reasonable and necessary safe-guard against a repressive system.
Now, if officers PROVE themselves to be benevolent and helpful, then I am all for extending the respect and courtesy to them that they have earned.
Too often though, that never happens.
Don’t agree with me…?
Pay attention:
I will take this time to thank those men and women in blue that did stand up for the public and those that stepped in to stop the physical abuse against non-violent innocent people…
But wait; none did.
