Red Tide Rising

My voice and sentiment is just a wisp on the wind, I know, but I am compelled to offer it. I only regret that I didn’t feel like I had a voice sooner.

I stand with the oppressed and brutalized people of this country and of this world. I’m angered by the unjust targeting and murder of, primarily, African Descended men in the cities of America.

This country, as I’ve stated in past posts, has a history almost exclusively built on the destruction and persecution of groups of people; the massacre and genocide of Indigenous people, the enslavement and brutalization of Africans, the internment of and bombing of Asians with atomic weapons, the attempted banning and demagoging of Muslims, and the marginalization and dehumanization of Latinos.

The energy that this indisputable history has fed into this country is now about to, quite literally, feedback upon itself.

I say it’s past time.

The misguided and youthful may occasionally lash out indiscriminately and cause chaos and damage to the wrong targets. That is wrong and unfortunate. it is known that those few are egged on by planted operatives of the police and movements contrary to the cause that wish to stir up turmoil. Something in me also knows that they are a tiny contingent in a massive and swelling force. Their actions are not the focus.

We’ve seen demands for change many times. We’ve seen it in freedom marches in the South, we’ve seen it in Watts after assassination, we’ve seen it in Chicago in the 1960s, we’ve seen it in LA after police brutality, we’ve seen it in the protest of oil pipelines that pollute our world, we’ve seen it in the marches for fair treatment of immigrating people, and we’ve seen it in Ferguson.

Is this uprising different?

It has to be – it better be!

Even in the midst of the visceral screaming of the righteous population, the police, military and elected officials remain deaf.

It’s no surprise that the Orange Ape in office feels the solution to those rising up against hundreds of years of oppression is to “Dominate” those very people. It’s no surprise that the police are doubling down on the suppression and aggression.

What better illustrates the objective of White Supremacy!!

Things CANNOT persist as they are. When I say that, it’s not simply a desire for blissful innocence. I understand that when constant pressure is applied, and continually heightened, one thing or another will eventually fail and break.

Therefore, I say passivity is not an option.

Passivity is at best requesting the altruism of an opponent and at worst begging for it.

Abusers, brutalizers, racists, and oppressive governments rely on passivity; it is their sustenance.

The blood of those that have been treated inhumanely by those who seek to exert dominance could form and ocean. It is only a matter of time before that tide overtakes them.

So, I stand, both literally and figuratively, with those protesting the murder of George Floyd and others!

I stand with their desire for justice and equality-and for opportunity and freedom! I stand with them for their calls for accountability and fairness.

You should too…
