The Precipice

THE CRUX OF IT: The misguided incompetence of the current administration puts all at risk.

The largest bomb ever dropped (aside from previous atomic bombs) was dropped today.

Lines are being drawn between the U.S.,  Syria, Russia, and North Korea like no other time in recent history.

For more than eight years North Korea was kept as a minor player on the world stage and in less than 90 days the Apex Ape Pres has helped to elevate their position and profile by using idle threats and posturing. Now, they are talking about long-range missile launches of their own.

The relationship with Russia is at a new low as well.

The need to normalize relations with Russia was and is still very necessary to facilitate peace negotiations in Syria.

The missile strike in Syria may force Russia’s hand and paint them into a corner.

But that may in fact be an intended consequence.

The theory that Russia is manipulating Drumpf stands because he would have to be seen distancing himself from Putin, which would draw the U.S. into the conflict in turn destabilizing the country/ adversary of Russia, in turn strengthening them.

The U.S. routinely ignores humanitarian horrors but chooses to seemingly arbitrarily launch attacks which will only strengthen the argument that the U.S. government’s actions lack sincerity or conviction.

Some say that Drumpf violated the constitution with the attack while others insist that the unilateral decision to launch a missile strike is against the United Nations charter and doing so could potentially encourage other states to take action on their own.

Either way, no one should believe for a second that he even took those things into consideration.

This is all happening in less time than it takes to get beyond the probation period of a new job.

The lack of fore-thought is staggering.

What’s next?

Is it more likely that things will escalate or deescalate?

In what reality does some sort of retaliation not take place?
