A FERVENT DESIRE FOR CHANGE

THE CRUX OF IT: Is the fervent desire for change naive?

This election has further highlighted the profound exasperation of the very diverse population that is America. My humble observation is that the very distinct disillusionment that

the right wing voices and manifests is, for some inexplicable reason, considered to be inherently more realistic. By realistic, I mean that some feel the results they fight for should be viewed with a sober perspective and could much more readily come to fruition.

By contrast, the Left’s thought processes and goals

are labeled with a myriad of condescending and minimizing terms like; naïve, unrealistic, divisive, or childish. The worst accusation would be that of being complicit with the polar opposite right wing itself.

How would both of those disparate mindsets be defined?

Let’s start with the Right’s:

The Right is rarely lauded for being fair or tolerant, especially in this time of rallies in which the unarmed and children are physically attacked and the punishment of the aggressors is absolutely an

afterthought (if punitive action is taken at all). But, at the same time, how often have the “concerns” of the hostiles been legitimized as sincere and honest? The answer is: many times or often. The Right is reported frequently as a disillusioned group that is desperate for a change and the possibility of that change must be taken seriously at all times. Don’t believe me? Look up the amount of free ad/promotion time the leading right wing candidate has gotten and also the most common rationale for his popularity.

What is the other side of the discussion?

Let’s define the Left as distinctly progressive and not simply as Democratic. The left very much prefers to vote for someone and not against someone. The Left wants for force change with every bit of passionate zeal as the right. I would even make a case for that zeal being more authentic because it is not originating from a place of fear (yes, a place of distinct fear and weakness) but from a much more cerebral place.

Now, how does the perception of the Left’s desires contrast? The legitimizing of their concerns is starkly lessened. Don’t believe me? How often are the progressive supporters chastised to face facts, grow up, or embrace what’s considered “realistic”? The answer is; constantly.

The extremely racist and placist power structure that exists, the would-be initiates of it, the tacit sheep who just aren’t aware they benefit from it, the active sheep that don’t realize they don’t benefit from it, and even those that claim to be in opposition of that structure, all work in different ways to ensure the same result; the continuation of the profit of perpetual servitude.

“Get out of the way and let us enlightened and worthy few tell you your place and how quickly to go there-willingly-or we will force you.”

“Get on board or you’re an immature and unrealistic obstructionist without the sophistication or complexity to know what is best for you or the country.”

Which side says which of those things? Is there really any significant difference? Does one side only mitigate the amount of servitude? Where do you fall?

Is the fervent desire for change naïve?
