THE CRUX OF IT: It is past time to collectively GROW UP!
The prevalence of discrimination in the U.S. throughout its history should not be a revelation to anyone being honest.
The disturbing aspect of that truth is the lack of true advancement that has been accomplished over the many decades.
What does this suggest?
The answer is this: Although in the past few decades it had become unseemly to voice such opinions openly, the thought process behind the beliefs never sufficiently changed at all. The exact conversations and prejudices were still being fervently relayed behind closed doors.
So, the current climate has been fomented by the fear and smallness of the so-called Right Wing and the even more dubiously named “Real Americans”.
Those that are on the receiving end of hateful speech and action are, over time, in a way tempered by that crucible. With that unintended result, the opportunity to bring those that perpetrate hatred, genocide, subjugation, or brutality, can and must be dragged, inevitably, kicking and screaming into social maturity.
