Craven Fear

THE CRUX OF IT: If they did truly matter, would they be taken so quickly.

This will be brief.

Ahmad Khan Rahami was suspected of a terrorist crime, pursued and, and captured alive.

Terence Crutcher was an unarmed man stranded with car trouble and gunned down without having committed a single crime.

One more time for those not following:

Terrorist believed to have injured more than two dozen people with at least three bombs…was then hunted down…and shot at police…TAKEN ALIVE!

Ahmad Khan Rahami is taken into custody after a shootout with police Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, in Linden, N.J. Rahami was wanted for questioning in the bombings that rocked the Chelsea neighborhood of New York and the New Jersey shore town of Seaside Park. (Nicolaus Czarnecki/Boston Herald via AP)

Stranded motorist in need of assistance and a tow truck…SHOT DEAD WITH HIS HANDS IN THE AIR!

The police in the helicopter filming this scene gave commentary (without realizing the damning implication of their words) that Mr. Crutcher looked like a “bad dude” and that he was “probably on something”. That observation was drawn from one hundred feet in the air and without knowing exactly what was transpiring below. What led to that conclusion?

Can you say, yell, and spell – BIAS!!!

Too many police seem to be suffering from a complete lack of courage. I would imagine that in that line of work, that could get someone killed…

Craven fear is every bit as powerful and destructive as profound prejudice.
